This top loading pack has a long tube-like form, reminiscent of a duffle. Its larger size will see you through a longer hike, market excursion, or weekend getaway. The 802 is great for the individual seeking a classic pack that combines a trim profile and minimal design without sacrificing capacity. The 802 is a perfect travel companion and meets carry-on requirements as set by TSA.
The top flap pocket zips open from the back, making it easier to access when removing the pack from your shoulders and becoming a neat stowaway for smaller items such as your camera, mp3 player, notebook, or maps. The main compartment functions like a large stuff sack, opening with a nylon cord and barrel-lock system, and can accommodate a laptop (up to 17 inches), clothing, gear, and books. The top flap pocket closes over the main compartment using durable side release buckles that adjust with the nylon webbing straps, compressing the pack to suit your load.
Constructed of US made, heavyweight Cordura ballistic fabric, custom dyed, and woven in the classic 2×2 basket weave construction. Coated and water resistant. Horween leather, military spec nylon webbing, YKK coil zippers, and metal hardware in black oxide finish. All internal seams are finished with binding tape, seams of stress are double stitched, and both zippers are covered with weather flaps. The shoulder straps are constructed of smooth seat belt webbing with wool felt stitched between the two layers for added comfort. A convenient leather finger loop is located at the top of the pack. Leather zipper pulls allow for smooth zipper operation, and leather tie-on patches are located on the bottom of the pack. The Altadena Works leather punched patch brands each pack.
*Additional side pockets can be purchased separately for the 802 pack adding considerable space for carrying extra items, such as a water bottle, toiletries, personal gadgets, gear and guides. These attach to the rectangle shaped leather tie-ons already on the Rucksack using a simple strap and buckle system. The accessory pockets are manufactured with the same attention to detail and quality as our larger packs.
Leather zipper pulls on the side pockets are co-ordinated/attached to match the leather color scheme of your 802 order.
